The 27th International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (CBMS)

Call for Papers

The 27th IEEE International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (CBMS 2014) will be held at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York NY, from May 27th to May 29th 2014. Attracting a worldwide audience, CBMS is the premier conference for computational medicine, providing a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and technologies between academic and industrial scientists. The scientific program of CBMS 2014 will consist of technical and poster sessions as well as keynote talks given by leading experts.

CBMS 2014 invites original, previously unpublished contributions that are not submitted concurrently to a journal or another conference. The following is a list of topics with suggested keywords in parentheses.  Submissions which do not fit into any of the below categories, but still relate to the use of computing in healthcare and medicine, are also welcomed and encouraged.

  • Bioinformatics/computational biology (genomics and personalized medicine)
  • Clinical decision support (expert systems, computer aided diagnosis, knowledge discovery)
  • Collaboration tools (social media, web apps, patient education)
  • Data processing and analysis (data modeling, data structures, algorithms)
  • Electronic medical records and systems integration
  • Image processing (challenges in retinal analysis, capillaroscopic imaging, microvascular discovery, radiographic image processing)
  • Medical education and patient simulation
  • Monitoring and devices (bedside, embedded, wearable, smartphone)
  • Ontologies and natural language processing
  • Security and privacy

Papers should be submitted electronically using the EasyChair online submission system. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least three reviewers. All accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings, and will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore. Please refer to the For Authors page for more details concerning format, deadlines and copyright and disclosure requirements.
