Human Simulation: Practical Applications

CBMS welcomes its attendees to take an in-depth look at modern human simulation.

In two sessions, participants will learn how simulation has improved the landscape of healthcare including it’s use for healthcare provider training, crisis protocol testing, and healthcare ergonomic and hospital workflow optimization.

The sessions will take place at the American Society of Anesthesiologists endorsed Human Emulation, Educational and Evaluation Lab for Patient Safety and Professional Study (HELPS) Simulation Center.  Established in 1994, The HELPS Center is one of the worlds longest running programs and is renowned for their innovative curriculums including their CARE (Clinical Anesthesia Re-Entry) program, a simulation based assessment and retraining program for anesthesiologists.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to assume the role of the healthcare provider and immerse themselves in the simulated environment to better appreciate the role of engineering and ergonomics in patient safety.
The demonstration sessions will be held on Tuesday, May 27 from 15:30-17:00 and on Wednesday, May 28 from 11:00-13:15.
